Dear Moms, Dads, Relatives, Educators and Business Owners!
Did anyone else blink and suddenly before your eyes the shops are stocking their Christmas range and there is only 1 month left of the school term? Someone please put the brakes on! I am not done with 2007 yet. Hey, stop! I am still frantically completing my tax return and yes, you noticed sending my October newsletter out on the 31st!
If it wasn’t for deadline dates would anything get done?
My daughter just turned 5 and she starts big school next year. We are at the end of her pre-school era and I am tearful at the thought of her starting Grade R in January. Is it because she is just too little to be at big school you may ask? Is it the homework horror stories heard from other parents? Is it the thought of the possibility of bigger kids bullying my child? These are concerns, but this is not what I am afraid of. I am scared because at the orientation day, I received a parent’s handbook for Grade R. What on earth is in store for us if the parents require a handbook? Exactly how much has changed since I was at school? What do I need a handbook for? I cannot tell you what is in it as I am too scared to read it. I am still plucking up the courage.
I have decided that I am going to be prepared with regards to uniforms, stationary and labels this year. You cannot start off 2008 in a crisis when you find out all the uniforms have sold out, you have bought the wrong stationery and the waitlist for ordering labels will take you into the second term!
We have a list of contacts detailed below of label suppliers. It is wonderful that we don’t have to sew the awful things on like our moms had to. Zip zap with the iron and there you go. You can even put labels on shoes, lunch boxes, pencils, bags and just about anything. You can even purchase personalized gift wrap for the kids’ books. There are also some great early bird discounts on offer.
I have to be off now, have some SARS filing to do! There is something ironic about the SARS filing deadline date being on 31 October!! Trick or treat?
