Dear Moms, Dads, Relatives, Educators and Business Owners!
2008 is coming to an end at a pretty fast pace and the excitement of the festive season is upon us. Here are my top 15 Christmas memories from the past 6 years:
- My children dancing naked around the Christmas Tree singing "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree".
- Baking Christmas cookies and making home-made lemonade for gifts.
- The traditional ham fight with my husband. (We argue over the size of ham to buy for Christmas lunch. He always wins and we end up with the biggest one he can find.)
- Sprinkling reindeer food on the lawn on Christmas Eve.
- Making Christmas cards and tree decorations with the kids. (Even when it means finding glitter in my hair for the next 3 weeks).
- Popping party poppers over the Christmas Tree.
- My daughter singing "Half the Herald Angels Sing".
- Realising we forgot to remove the whisky and shortbread from the lounge on Christmas day and coming up with an off the cuff explanation on why Santa didn't drink and eat it.
- Looking for coins in the Christmas Pudding.
- Betting whether this year I will manage to avoid the Christmas cracker with the tape measure in it. (Has not happened yet, I manage to get one every year. I could decorate the tree in them instead of using tinsel.)
- Reading all the silly jokes you find in the crackers out loud.
- Sneaking into the house after Christmas shopping and hiding the presents.
- Watching the kids in the hay fight at Uncle Jumbo's Christmas party.
- Watching toddlers find the wrapping paper and packaging more intriguing than the gift inside.
- Visiting the SPCA to donate food for the animals and ensuring the cats and dogs there get lots of attention during our visit. Avoiding the geese and leaving with our toes intact.
