Dear Moms, Dads, Relatives, Educators and Business Owners!

Wow, the whole of the month of April felt like one big holiday! When did anyone get a chance to do any work last month?

My daughter has been nagging me to take her to the movies lately. Everytime we visit our local grocery store, we walk past the posters advertising the latest movies. (She always has a giggle at the one of Mr Bean). My latest excuse is that there are no children's movies on circuit at our particular cinema. The truth is I am too embarrassed to take my kids to the movies. The last time I took them they were the pre-movie entertainment. They danced and sang at the front of the movie house until the movie started. They sat down for 20 minutes and then crawled, wormed, climbed and sneaked up and down the staircase for the rest of the show. They were the only children to get a full body workout during the film.

The latest kids' movie release this month is Spiderman 3 which opens tonight. This is one for the older kids. The Lion King also debuts in South Africa this month. Be warned, it is quite booked up so if you have not yet bought your tickets, and you want to see the show, I recommend you do so soon!

For the younger ones and the bumps not yet arrived, Barney will be at the Your Baby Show™ this month.  The Your Baby Show™ is South Africa’s most successful show for pregnant women and parents of children from 0 to 6 years old and is on at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate from 17 to 20 May 2007. On Saturday, 19 May 2007 between 07:30 and 09:00, a Guinness World Record™Attempt will be made for the Largest Gathering of Pregnant Women. This will be held prior to the opening of the exhibition. Pregnant women must register prior to the event on www.yourbabyshow.co.za.

Durban sees the opening of a new theatre at Durban High School where various shows will be held over the opening weekend from 17 to 20 May including Grandpa Grump and the Magical Junk Shop. This is a great show for the little ones!

On the 13th May there will be nationwide celebrations for all the mums in South Africa. Whether your idea of a special Mother's Day is spending a day with the kids or escaping from the kids to a Spa, I hope all our mum subscribers have a wonderful day.

Vuka South Africa” – let’s get moving!  Move for Your Health is the message that will be reverberating around South Africa in May as part of a global campaign run in conjunction with the World Health Organisation. The initiative serves to promote and encourage regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.
To celebrate this, an event called the Move for Your Health Don Lock Memorial 8km Race and 5km Fun Walk/Run is taking place on Sunday 13 May 2007, in Claremont, Cape Town. The shorter distance (5km) event has been specifically added to encourage Junior School children to participate. Any child under 9 years of age must be supervised by an adult.
To further encourage our children to get physically active, Woolworths has injected
R20 000 of prize money into the Schools Mass Participation Competition, where the three schools with the highest percentage of learners participating in the Move for Your Health Don Lock Memorial Fun Walk/Run are rewarded. Here’s an ideal chance for your school to get active, have fun and win great prizes!  Both adults and children are welcome and with 100 minutes to complete either event, you can easily walk the distance.
