Dear Moms, Dads, Relatives, Educators and Business Owners!

Have you ever dropped your children off at school and then 10 minutes into your journey home or to work you realise that you are still playing their music CD and singing along to it? You quickly switch over to the radio and look around to see if anyone has noticed. You then realise how silly you are for thinking they would know. Ok, ok so I need to get more sleep!

My children have some CDs that just drive me batty and I have banned them from the car. I am not keen on any nursery rhyme CDs, that purple dinosaur CD is definitely not allowed and the Wiggles are relegated way down to the bottom of the pile. After listening repetitively to these CDs for the first two years of my daughter's life, I have decided to put them in storage and keep them for her 21st birthday party when I will play them for her and get even.

So, what tunes do we listen to in the car? We have all of the Beautiful Creatures CDs as well as the Beautiful Me. I love the variety of music styles, singers and of course the truly African flavours. We have a couple of kids CD compilations which include kids singing old pop songs and kids songs. We have a compilation of classic Disney songs, many of the songs I listened to when I was a kid. Then I also have a Mika CD (probably the most up to date music we have in the car) and I have a few compilations of classic songs from the Beatles, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, ABBA, Grease, Johnny Clegg, Chuck Berry, Kylie Minogue, Queen, Creedence, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rolling Stones. I believe in exposing my children to all types and styles of music that I like. Hee hee.

My son however, prefers to listen to my husband's music much to my horror. He loves classic rock. One of his favourite artists is George Thorogood. He wants to grow up to be a rock star and his perception of a rock star is singing at the top of his voice (if you can call it singing). So now he screeches out songs like, Bad to the Bone and One bourbon, one scotch, one beer!

And here I am worrying about what my children watch on television and hoping they don't pick up bad sayings from other children at school!

What music do you and your children like to listen to in the car? What kids CD's do you find bearable and would recommend to other parents? Please email us and let us know. We love to hear from our readers!
