Dear Moms, Dads, Relatives, Educators and Business Owners

My son is consistently nagging me for a transformer. The other day I came back with a reply, the kind that a mom thinks is so witty and the kid thinks is really lame especially when he knows it means he is not going to get what he asked for! I told him, "We already have transformers in the house. Whenever the children transform into Lots Mess Monsters and turn the house upside down, mom transforms into the Dragon Lady to save the house from total destruction."

Actually, I think moms are more like Ben 10. (No, I don't mean we are strange alien creatures - although my husband seems to think he married one.) I mean we have the ability to morph into different characters with super hero abilities as and when we need them. When a child is sick, we change into a nurse, when a child is unhappy we change into a clown to extract a giggle or two and when it is homework time, we change into a teacher and so on. No, wait, moms are way cooler than Ben 10. He only has 10 different characters to morph into, moms have unlimited ones as we have to develop new ones all the time! That's why Ben 10 only needs a watch whereas moms need extra help in the form of make up, jewelry, reliable cars, wine, flattering clothes, au pairs and domestic workers.

Tomorrow night my husband is taking me out on a date. Mmmm, I think I need to tell him that if he wants me to transform into the happy, not so boring and a lot less grumpy 20 year old that I used to be then I really need help with this, something like a new phone might do the trick. No doubt he will come back with some reply that he thinks is witty and I think is lame and means that I won't be getting what I have asked for!

Super hero moms prepare and equip yourselves for the school holidays as the Lots Mess Monsters will be about the house for three whole weeks! Good luck.
