Dear Moms, Dads, Relatives, Educators and Business Owners!
Last night I went out with some friends to a cooking evening at Meryl's School of Cooking. The idea of the evening was to relax and drink some wine while Meryl teaches us how to cook some nice easy family meal recipes and for us to pick up a cooking tip or two.
What a great way to spend an evening. Relax and drink wine I did, whilst I watched a talented chef do the cooking! Mmmm, I could do this every night! I did pick up a very important tip too. My cooking is awful. After tasting Meryl's stews, I realised I have been feeding my family Instant Bisto flavoured mush.
Meryl cooked us a wonderful spicy lamb stew, a beef stew with dumplings and a lemon chicken dish. They were the perfect winter warmer one pot cooking recipes. She used fresh spices and lots of healthy vegetables that were still crunchy when served. Rather unlike the vegetables in my stews which you cannot even recognise. Hey, I read somewhere once that if you want your kids to eat vegetables then hide them in their meal. Ok, so maybe cooking them until you can't even recognise them is a bit extreme!
Anyway, back to the good food! Meryl completed the meal with the most decadent cappacunino fudge brownies. She even let us scoop out the mixing bowl once they were in the oven. Yum!
When I arrived home last night, the first thing my husband asked was what we ate and when can I make it for him. Oh dear. How would I break the news to him that the chances of me being able to reproduce such a high standing of cooking and keep it up was, well, non existent. Ahh, better yet, maybe I could convince him to send our domestic worker on a cooking course and then she can cook the delicious meals whilst I watch and drink wine....er, I mean whilst I spend more quality time with the kids!
