I am delighted to inform you that Absa, a member of the Barclays Group, are set to announce the corporate sponsorship of THRASS though the THRASS Absa TalkTogether Project.
If you are not familiar with THRASS, it stands for Teaching Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills. THRASS is a whole-school phonics programme for teaching learners, of any age, about the building blocks of reading and spelling, that is, the 44 phonemes (speech sounds) of spoken English and the graphemes (spelling choices) of written English.
My two children are currently learning to read, write and spell through the THRASS phonics programme and I am extremely impressed with the fast rate at which they are progressing and the enthusiasm they have towards learning to read and write. My daughter (4 years) said to me last week when I was reading her a bedtime story, "Mum, I wish I could read this whole book myself." She is desperate to be able to read on her own!
The support of the THRASS website and the continued and rapid development by THRASS to reach their goal of enabling children worldwide to have access to their programme is phenomenal. An example is the recent launch of their calendar charts in all eleven South African national languages.
We are pleased to advise that we now have an online press office on our website where you can view all the latest news from THRASS.
