I have noticed there is a lot of talk lately on the Glycemic Index and the importance of eating low GI carbs to maintain a healthy diet. Well I had no idea what all this fuss was about until I read the article How to Avoid Kids’ Blood Sugar “Spike and Crash”. Aaah, the penny dropped! Thank you to Missy Chase Lapine who manages to explain the GI in a simple way. Kind of like a "GI for dummies!" She also lists 7 simple ways to prevent the sugar “spike and crash” syndrome and give your child lasting energy. Due to an incredible response from Melanie's article on left handed writers, she has kindly written an article this month about Establishing Dominance and Crossing the Midline©. She includes an explanation of the terms Cross dominance, Ambidextrous, Lateralisation and Crossing the midline and includes some tips and games to play with your child as they grow, in order to potentially avoid issues of cross dominance (when one side of the body has not become dominant over the other). This is a highly recommended read for all parents!
