I remember one of my favourite things to do at home as a kid was to go through the box of family photos and albums. My mom is a photographer so she has always ensured an endless supply of photos. Sometimes she would sit with me and tell me about the people in the photos and the places they were taken. It was our version of a personalized family story book.

I, like my mom, love taking pictures (although I don’t quite match up to her talent) and we too have an endless supply of photos. Unfortunately, they are backed up on a hard drive and hidden away from view! My kids are still too young to use Facebook so they cannot view any online albums there. Yes, we have pictures on the wall in our home but most of them are posed photos. We have no pictures on display that capture the essence of childhood, photos of kids doing typically kid stuff. Do you? And if so, how have you exhibited them? I would love some ideas.

I was feeling guilty the other day - being a mom I have mastered the art of feeling guilty about anything and everything! I very seldom sit with my kids and chat about our family photographs. I know they love to do this just as much as I did. So I decided to go through all our pictures and put together an album of photos that captures their personalities and shows them being typical kids!

In order to encourage you to do the same, we are running a "typical kids" photo competition in conjunction with the launch of the new Parent Hub. To get an idea of the types of pictures we are looking for, I have uploaded some of the pictures I used in my album.
