The infrastructure on site is largely used as an educational centre to teach school children of all ages about conservation of ecosystems, involving a 2.5 kilometre hike and hands-on activities.With the focus on conservation, outdoor recreation and eco-tourism opportunities do exist to generate income from the facilities and activities offered at the Rietfontein nature reserve.
