Rising Star Academy runs highly successful performing arts programs aimed at developing not only your child’s stage skills but life skills such as public speaking, self-confidence and teamwork. We develop the confidence to speak out and the ability to “act out”, in the theatrical sense of course.
Our portfolio includes weekly drama classes, international examination classes, musical theatre classes, in-school drama programs, a productions division and talent agency. The last 2 were established to give our students the ability to showcase skills gained via our training to national and international producers / directors, these two divisions have had great success so far. Registration is open throughout the year for our programs. Classes are held in the following areas: Ballito, Umhlanga, Glenashley, Durban North, Berea, Glenwood, Westville, Pinetown, Kloof, Hillcrest, Amanzimtoti.
- Junior Stars Grade 0-3 - Juniors enter our academy to develop self-confidence, public speaking and social interaction skills. Drama allows freedom of speech, ideas and creativity and that is what we encourage with our Juniors.
- Senior Stars Grade 4-7 – Seniors are exploring their creative side and finding their feet in a rapidly changing world. All enjoy “acting-out” and many have dreams of a career on the stage, we nurture this in every way we can.
- High School Stars Grade 8+ - High School Stars delve deeper into techniques, genres and styles. We focus on the detail of a performance, refine styles and develop ideas by asking the all-important theatrical question “What If…”
From poetry to masks, improvisation to mime, musical theatre to theatre of the absurd; classes focus on discovering new performance skills, learning together and having fun. If we lose fun we lose passion, if we lose passion we lose focus and commitment. All of which are intrinsic skills to master on and off the stage.
