MamaMagic™ – The Baby Expo Durban 2010 was a gathering of families of all colour, shapes and sizes. It was the perfect place to see a wonderful rainbow nation of beautiful bumps, cute little babes and excited, inquisitive toddlers on patrol dressed in anything from cool jeans or trendy leggings to track suits. The girls were adorned with all sorts of accessories from flower embroided head bands to bows and colourful pony tail bands.
I was asked to judge the Innovative Product Awards at MamaMagic™ – The Baby Expo Durban 2010. I had 12 products to visit, review and judge this year. I really enjoyed meeting the innovaters of some of the products and my favourites included:
Just For Kids – Folding Bench Sandpit
- The invisibelt which lets you wear a belt without having a big bulky buckle in the front.
- The Dot Baby 3 in 1 dot pot, a potty, toilet seat trainer and step all in 1.
- The Xgel toothpaste.
A product that I was not judging but was really impressed by was the SoPure Mosquito Repellent, no strong odour and a non oily feel. There were not as many new products being launched at the show this year as there were compared to last year.
I attended the Netcare Paediatrician's Vaccination do’s and don’ts talk in the Woodward's Experts Lounge on the Friday afternoon. The doctor who gave the talk was extremely knowledgeable and coped brilliantly with all the questions I fired at her.
There was a large play area provided by Top Tots for kids to colour, climb and slide. Standard Bank had a parenting game show on the go where clever moms won R2000 cash.

There were eating stations, baby changing stations and breast feeding rooms and loads more at this family friendly exhibition.
Lots of adoring Barney Fans bopped along to their favourite dinosaur whilst others took advantage of the "quiet" time at the exhibitors stands to find out about their many specials. Baby City was packed full of parents taking advantage of their special offers especially the nappies!
Cape Town mums, dads and grandparents, The Baby Expo Cape Town takes place at the Cape Town CTICC between 29 – 31 October 2010. Don't miss out.
