These lovely money ‘boxes’ arrive neatly packaged in a sealed plastic bag.  Your chosen design of which there are two – ‘Trendsetters’ for girls and ‘Heroes’ for boys is already glued to the cylindrical shaped cardboard money ‘box’.  Inside the ‘box’ are 8 little bags containing various colours of sand for the project.  There is also a small pick which you use to remove the sections of paper in order to expose a sticky area that will be covered in a sand colour of your choice.  There is no colour picture to guide you with colours, but there are brief  instructions on the back of the packaging.

My 8+ year old daughter chose the ‘Heros’ money ‘box’ design.  She struggled at first to remove the paper, but when she eventually got the knack, so enjoyed herself she did not want to put her money box down until it was complete.  The little bags of sand are a nice size for smaller hands to manage on their own and have a convenient little zip like seal which is easy to open and close.  There is also enough sand in each bag to ensure that you don’t run out of a specific colour.

My 5+ year old daughter chose the ‘Trendsetter’ money ‘box’ design to complete.  The design is rather intricate for her age but she managed quite well.  I occasionally had to help her with removing or repositioning the smaller pieces.  She also struggled a little to keep the money ‘box’ at the right angle when applying sand to ensure the sand covered the right spots and didn’t fall off, but all in all she really enjoyed the project and is very proud of her achievement!

I would recommend the ‘Sand Art Money Boxes’ for smaller groups rather than big parties due to the supervision and assistance that is required to complete the task and also the time it takes to complete. The price is also reasonable when you take into account that it can be used as a party box, provides entertainment and is also a take-home-gift (party favour).
