I have always had a bit of a sceptic view of reward charts. Some mothers tell me they work wonders and others say they don't work at all.
I came across these Fun Reward Charts by Mua Creations and decided to meet the creator, Karien Coetzee.
Karien, formerly a teacher and currently pregnant with her third child, took 2 years to get her reward chart concept to print. She has put in a lot of research into the design and implementation of it. Her aim is to provide a convenient and easy to use kit to assist parents to modify unacceptable behaviour in toddlers.
"I just want to help parents", says Karien. "Parents are going to buy their children gifts anyway, they might as well get the
children to work for them through good behaviour."
What I like about this kit is that it is affordable, convenient and easy to use.
These Fun Reward Charts worked well with my children. They both wanted rabbits, so we set their goals on the charts and stuck on the chores and good behaviour they had to maintain in order to achieve these goals. I am happy to report (I think) that we now have two fluffy additions to the family hopping around the house, lots of chores maintained by the kids and tidy bedrooms.
The Fun Reward Charts specify they are suitable from 3 to 5 years but they worked well on my children who are 5 and a half and 7 years.
