– songs for children by Tim Wells
I am always looking out for new music CD’s for children due to the fact that I get tired of hearing the same old ones over and over. I feel the need to expand our range of kids’ music CD’s purely to retain my sanity. When I received an email about a new CD release by actor and singer Tim Wells from Durban, I contacted Tim about reviewing his product and was delighted that my request was met favourably. Tim dropped off a copy of his CD the next day. I was impressed by his efficiency and enthusiasm.
Creatures in my Home and Garden is a collection of 10 songs with educational, fun and typical facts about pets, insects, reptiles and amphibians. The vocals are clear, and the musical style is easy listening. Tim produced the CD locally in his home studio, in Durban, and he retails it at a very likeable price of R70 including postage within South Africa.
The songs may not appeal to all parents tastes, but then they are written and sung for children, who love to sing about creatures that are a part of their everyday lives. I like the fact that the pictures on the CD cover are photos of real creatures. Tim Wells does apologise in advance for “subjecting all you parents to these ditties for hours on end as you drive around in your cars” and advises that you “just give in and sing along”. Nobody but your children have to know what music you are enjoying in your car!
The first time I played the CD for my children (aged 5 and 6 and a half) I asked them if they like the songs and if they would listen to them again? The answer was a very definite “YES” to both questions. Sorry for me, that is all we have listened to over the last week! At least the other CD’s can take a break for a bit.
“By the way Tim, thanks for emailing me the lyrics, but I already know them!”
