Publisher: Macmillan Children's Books
Author: Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell
Throughout the history of literature, there have been countless stories of warrior heroes destined to save the earth, but never quite like this, but then this is Muddle Earth.
The warrior hero in this book wears a saucepan on his head and defends himself with a toasting fork. He rides on the shoulders of an ogre, a rather sensitive and weedy one, along with a sarcastic budgie (the peanut gallery) and a wizard who can only do one spell.
If your children like bizarre characters, wicked humour and words like stinky, bog and exploding gas, then they will love this book.
Muddle Earth does not deliver any meaningful messages, nor does it offer any role models. It is light hearted entertainment with a "Shut up, Veronica" and a giggle on every page.
"It is the most hilarious book I have ever read." - Kayla, 8 years.
"The squeezed sheep, pink stinky hogs and exploding gas frogs are the craziest things I have ever heard of." - Carrick, 7 years.
