Awesome Animals follows on the success of African Animals - Rhymes and Recipes by Tracy Going. An A to Z animal inspired recipe book with some interesting animal facts served in poetry style and mixed up with some beautiful illustrations of animals and fantastic culinary images.
In Awesome Animals Tracy has chosen some weird and wonderful animals from around the globe to inspire her recipes. Examples include Okapi Oodles, Qoll Quesadillas, Fossa Friandises and Narwhals Naise. Kids can make salads, mayonnaise, puddings, snacks, juices and entrees like no other and remember an interesting animal fact or two by association.
At the end of the book are some further facts about the animals. Some examples include, "When a Panda is born it is smaller than a mouse. Gorillas have their own unique nose print. Quolls develop a pouch when needed. A group of tigers is called a streak."
Carrick Mullin, 7 years old: "I like that all the recipes in the book are named after an animal and that there is an animal for each letter of the alphabet. I also like the pictures of the food and I like to find out facts about animals that my friends don't know so that I can tell them."
Awesome Animals - Rhymes and Recipes is a fun and educational gift idea and a percentage of the proceeds are donated to child welfare South Africa.
Please note that quite a few of the recipes do not cater for children with allergies such as wheat, gluten, dairy and eggs.
