Written by well-known Durban-based author Kirsten Miller, illustrated by Shayle Bester, and is published by Monique Bowmaker. Age group - 3 to 7 years old.
Reading ‘A Time for Fairies’ to my two girls aged 6 and 8+ took me back many years and made me realise how much of the magic of old has been lost in our supercharged lives.
Do you believe in fairies? When I was a little girl my older sisters used to tell me all sorts of fairy stories. They used to help me build fairy gardens under our peach trees and even made ‘footprints’ appear ‘magically’ overnight!
The story is beautifully written and illustrated. And my girls had fun trying to spot the letters hidden in the pages and then trying to make out the secret message at the end of the book.
But beware… you may be asked to help produce a fairy garden complete with footprints and tiny fairy notes. If you don’t you will probably be left with nagging children – “When are we going to build the fairy garden mommy?”…
I would definitely recommend this little book of you want to keep the magic world of fairy wonder alive.
The book costs R89.00. (Personalised fairy letters and messages can be individually purchased over and above standard price).
