13% of our children are left-handed today but, sadly, very little recognition is given to the left-handed learner in the classroom, the sports field or in day to day living. Very few people realise that in order for a child to learn the vital fine motor skills such as cutting, drawing, letter and number formation, the left-handed learner needs to be taught in a different way to a right-handed child.
Children learn by copying actions and as most parents and teachers are likely to be right-handed, a left-handed child can often be confused by the actions. It is, therefore, no surprise that a left-handed child is more likely to be in some form of occupational therapy or remedial education that a right-handed child.
Our aim is to provide the equipment and training through our resources and educational programmes to make sure that the left-handed child has every chance of succeeding in the classroom.
OUR STATIONERY
We offer a range of left-handed stationery items such as:
Left-handed scissors, training scissors, easy grips and self-opening scissors.
Imported rubber pencil grips for left- and right-handed learners encourage a tripod grip and removes the ‘hooked’ grip so common in left-handers.
Left-handed pencil sharpeners – two holes with waste container. Perfect size for little hands!
Left-handed ruler – ideal size for small children – numbers run from right to left for easy viewing by the left-handed child.
