New Grade 5 phonic books Now Available
Fantastic new Grade 5 phonic workbooks will be available from Phonix in a Box in October 2011. The books are fantastic tools for children to practise their spelling and language skills at home and school
Phonix in a Box card games:
There are 5 boxes of playing cards with 60 colourful picture cards per box. Each box contains instructions for five different card games that can be played in pairs or small groups i.e. rummy, snap, matching pairs etc
The sets of cards focus on all the vowel and common consonant sounds (phonemes) that are introduced between Grades 1 and 4. Each card is beautifully illustrated in full colour and includes the written word with the targeted grapheme highlighted.
By playing these games, a child will learn to:
- Match sounds (phonemes) and written letters (graphemes)
- Use strategies that will strengthen his/her reading and spelling skills.
- Use strategies to visually recognise letter combinations and associate them to auditory sounds.
- Develop good phonemic awareness skills.
There are 300 picture cards in the set, which will also strengthen a child’s language and vocabulary skills.
  
Phonix in a Box phonic workbooks:
There are four books in this product range e.g. Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4. These books have been designed to be used as a weekly spelling book with a similar format in each book. A specific phoneme (sound) is targeted for the week and a list of words is provided for the learner to practise each day. Each week includes a spelling list of words applicable to each grade, extension words, common words and a worksheet for application. The worksheets include important vocabulary, language and phonemic awareness concepts i.e. rhyming words, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, proverbs, similes, collective nouns, tenses etc.
