Founder/Owner
I am a wife and a mom of two children, 3 cats, two dogs, a bunch of silk worms and soon to be a mouse and a hamster if my kids get their way.

I have been an internet marketer for 9 years. I used to manage the web sites and e-marketing for Seekers Travel, Travel.co.za and American Express until I decided to become an internet entrepreneur in 2004 when I launched Kidzworld. I have been using the internet for over 15 years now and everday I learn something new about it which makes this medium so exciting to work in. I love social media which gives every person who uses it a voice and offers incredible marketing opportunities for small and medium enterprises who do not have the budgets for traditional advertising. I love writing, blogging, tweeting, working with graphics, juggling business and home life and experiencing life at full throttle with a good sense of humour. I believe in sharing knowledge, spreading good ideas, appreciating the simple things in life and being grateful for what you have - whining is not acceptable in our house! Maxine Davies
I am a proud mother of 2 gorgeous girls aged 9 and 6+ and ‘granny’ to 2 (male & female) Jack Russell’s aged 2 (in October). As a family we have moved around extensively, having lived in Gauteng, East London, Polokwane, Mauritius (only 3 months – sigh) and have been in Durban since 2004. The reason for this is that my husband is in construction.

So I know how difficult it is to move to a new place and not know which schools are around, where to find extra mural activities or which places to go to that are child-friendly. Working parents now days also don’t have time for ‘word of mouth’ referrals, want quick easy information and what better way than to go to a comprehensive source of information that is online 24 hours, 7 days a week..

I used ‘our’ Kidzworld website on a regular basis after meeting Cara (our 6 year old daughters have been friends since age 2..) and that is why I jumped at the opportunity to work with her in April 2008. Technology is advancing at such a rapid rate and trying to keep up is very challenging – thank goodness Cara is a ‘social networking addict and ferocious researcher of aspects that benefit our website and in turn our users…!

How kidzworld came to be..
The idea of Kidzworld came about after Cara Mullin (wonderful wife and mother of two delightful children) had many failed attempts to search on the internet for child friendly restaurants, a creche in the area where she lives and for petting zoos or a place to entertain the little treasures. "My children have these radars that trigger an alarm the moment I sit in front of my computer, no matter what time of day or night it is. I had limited time to find information on the internet, before my children's protesting won the battle for my attention," said Cara. "I realised that us parents need help! We needed a central source where we could find anything and everything relating to infants, children and parenting," she added. In December 2004 www.kidzworld.co.za went live.
